The invention of mobile phones had actually cause globalization to occur as it makes the world become interconnected as we could use it to log on to news about all around the world or make a call just by pressing a button regardless where you are even from the mountain top. With the speed of mobile phones it made communication more efficient, making businesses around the world prosper as it enables them to make trade with each other easily. With the functions that mobile phones have people all around the world also wants to grab it.

Globalisation is the increasing internationalisation of trade, particularly financial product transactions. The integration of economic and capital markets throughout the world.Bringing the world closer through better world-wide comminication, transport and trade links. The creation of a "Global Village", where members of the same industry from around the world interact on a large scale.

My idea of globalisation? To me, the internet serves as a good example. People from all across the globe can stay in touch with one another through commnunication tools such as the net, telephones, handphones and mail. Globalisation already have the key word, global in it. It is pertaining to the whole wide world. Globalisation affects countless of lives in many different ways. To some it may be a negative thing or possibly even threats. But to others, it could be a positive thing and it might even make lives more convenient. The internet, for example, allows people from all around the world to stay interlock with one another with the latest news. As technology advances, they are even web coverage from remote areas. Thus this make our globe more interconnected.

GLOBALISATION

This cartoon tells us that there is still unequal development and distribution of economy in this world.Globalisation will have the both negative and positive effects from different prospective and countries. Globalisation refers to the ever-increasing connectivity of people's lives, i.e. in the economic, social, cultural, technical and political which take place across national boundaries. Globalisation supposed to have the potential to generate wealth and improve the  standards of living of its people. However the world now is divided into economically advanced countries which take advantage of globalisation and whose economic development is consequently prospering (the north), and countries which lag behind for globalisation (the south). People generally recognised globalisation as the factor of the increased of gap between rich and poor. Therefore ways need to be found to manage and structure globalisation so that it will supports fundamental human rights and sustainable development, and generates prosperity for ordinary people, particularly the poorest.

It has become a buzzword that some will use to describe everything that is happening in the world today.

Globalisation came to be seen as more than simply a way of doing business, or running financial markets - it became a process. From then on the word took on a life of its own

Globalisation has the potential to generate wealth and improve living standards. For those countries with the products, skills and resources to take advantage of the opportunities provided by global markets, the benefits are evident. However there are also significant drawbacks particularly for those nations that don't fall into this category.

Globalisation is generally recognised as having increased the gap between rich and poor. This is because the policies that drive the globalisation process have largely focussed on the needs of business.

A number of key players are driving globalisation. They include

 multinational enterprises that carry out business across national boundaries;
 the World Trade Organisation (WTO), through which international trade agreements are negotiated and enforced;
 the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) which are meant to assist governments in achieving development aims through the provision of loans and technical assistance; and
 national governments, who together with these international institutions, are instrumental in determining the outcomes of globalisation.

Globalization has helped brands gain recognition and expand their businesses worldwide. It has also, however, driven many deeper into poverty. Small businesses and third world countries are not capable of updating their technology as often as their larger, wealthier counterparts. Unable to compete with multinational firms and wealthy nations, small businesses and third world countries and forced to do business locally, never growing and reaching their full potential.

after reading so many implications about globalization, it means global adoption of social institutions or the process by which social institutions (important organization) become adopted on a global scale. it also means the interconnection between countries through transportation,selling products, or communication. I have chosen this picture, showing "singapore changi airport" as it came across my mind,that this main airport in singapore or also known as the major aviation is interconnected with so many countries around the world, some of the examples are USA,UK,china,japan,korea,taiwan,indonesia,thailand,vietnam,hongkong,pakistan,india,myanmar,cambodia, and other significant countries. the economy of singapore has a highly-developed and successful market economy as a result of this interconnection. without changi airport,the relationship between local businessmen and international businessmen might not have been formed.

Globalization is drive that promote a multi- language, culture and race society to us

Globalization will influence the harmonry and cohesion of our society in today's day.   As our world is becoming smaller and smaller based on the convenient transportations , people are travelled all over the world to study and work . Thus , most of the prosperous places are existed diffierent language,cultural and race people, Singapore is of them. Obvirously , this will cause the misunderstanding occuring between diffierent language group people.  Also, with only one type of language will adversely affect the vistors from other countries. As such , we have to provide a multi-languages to help the vistors to have a better understanding on our society.   .

Such is a picture that shows a fingerport with 3 diffierent type of language , which are able to help the vistors to get clearly informantions from the fingerport.

This picture shows containers. It represents globalisation as this represents one of globalisation category: interconnected. All countries often will have to do trades such as buying of resources from other countries so as to overcome the problem of scarity of resources .For example ; Singapore always buys natural resources like water from malaysia so that singapore will not have any water to drink even though we have the NEwater to depend if they do not sell us.

Globalisation in my opinion is something that attracts the attention of the whole world. One latest event is the 'Swine Flu'.
Globalisation doesn't only have negative effects but it sometimes can be something good too. Other than the Swine Flu. One common topic that the whole world talks about is Global Warming. Global warming is the increase in the temperature of Earth. Global warming is caused by the Greenhouse gasses.

The first picture was chosen because it states the effects and causes of global warming...
However, the second picture was chosen because I want to illustrate that the world is on 'fire' and people have to start caring for our planet. With the economic crisis and the virus spreading, the least we could do is to take good care of Earth. And the steps are easy. We don't have to be some scientist or great people to put out this 'fire'. We can help by preventing it from spreading. For example, stop cutting trees; don't dirve, take the pulic transport and stop littering. Al these little things if combined, it makes a great difference.

Globalisation has worsened environmental problem such as global warming. Factories and transportation around the world have polluting the world by giving out enormous amount of fumes into the atmosphere every day. These will increase the temperature of the world every year. Therefore we should help to prevent all these by using product that do not give out carbon dioxisw and nitrogen oxides, or finding alternative energy sources such as geothermal power by using the plant that is shown in the picture above. when the environment is well preserved then our next generation can continue to live in a better place.

Is this Pioneer GMO Cornfield Killing Monarch Butterfies? by DawnOne.

In my perspective, Globalisation means the international widespread of ideas & activities that has helped in adapting the world to changes.

I have chosen the topic on GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms). A GMO is an organism whose genetic material has been altered through changing it's DNA molecules to either improve it's quality, or to make it more efficient in our lives. Transgenic plants is a very good example. Through genetically modifying it's qualities, agriculture is now more resistant to pests, herbicides, harsh environmental conditions, improved with longer shelflife and it's nutritional value is increased. Farmers all over the world are welcoming this idea because genetically modifying their crops can help them earn more income. Henceforth, with the rising quality of agriculture, the number of consumers have also risen as consumers want better quality food to ensure better health. And now we are also aware of this concept because it proved itself to be a wonderful concept. So to say, the GMO is a good example for explaining Globalization on my part.

  ' Globalisation Worldwide movement toward economic, financial, trade, and communications integration. '
  The picture i've chosen represents globalisation as i feel it has relevance to globalisation. Looking at the picture, it is obvious that the woman is living in a LDC country. The gigantic burger and coke can which are fake in size, tells us that the woman is not having a good economic status in the country she is living in. In an LDC such as Kenya, fast foods do not even exist to them, let alone a gigantic burger and a can of coke. Due to the degrading economic problems in the country, the financial level of the country therefore is affected too. Without a good economic progress, other factors such as financial, trade, and communications intergration will not even be able to advance. The clothings the woman has on tells us that the financial status of the country is terrible, as the woman does not even have proper clothings which are not torn to be worn. If the government is stable, the woman would have been able to have a more properly attire as they would have enough cash to help all the citizens in the country facing proverty. The background of the picture shows the hot climate and temperature the country experiences, this can be another factor to why the country is not developing well. So as globalisation is a way in which the world comes together to help countries like the one in this picture, poor countries like this will thus develop better in a few year's to come.

From the photo, I can infer that globalization is the joining of countries to make the world a better place. From school, I have learned from Miss Kong that globalization is something like "famous brand that is spread to other countries". For example, Coke, MacDonald, KFC, Sony, Samsung. All of these can be found on worldwide, they expand their business to outside of their own country. They could then earn more as they are branded stuff.

This photo was taken last year on Chai Chee's racial harmony day celebration. All 6 of us are of mix nationality and races. Usually the teachers of 4EA and 4EB would always say that our classes are international as they comprises of people that are not only from our 3 main races, Chinese, Malay and Indian, our classmates are from all over the globe. Some examples are Vietnam,Thailand,China,Indonesia,Malaysia and Hong Kong. My classmates get along just fine with one another, often using english as our common language. On that day of the celebration,my class had to go up on stage to perform a song called Peng You, which means Friends in english. Even though the lyrics are in mandarin and some of my friends are clueless about that language, they were very keen in learning. The chinese students paired up with them to guide them through the song. This has further strengthen our bond as a class. Even though Singapore has created a sense of national identity, ethnic issues are still very fragile, even up to today.

The people in the photos are my friends whom i know them from Basketball. They are also studying in Chai Chee Secondary School. Despite that they are of different races we played basketball as one team.

Not being selfish on anyone. Even now, we played basketball almost everyday as we shared the same interests. The picture was taken on December 2008, we were just out the gym with my coach, it was fun being with them as we were always having fun and there has never being any quarrel among us from since we know each other.

Singapore will creates opportunities for us as when the powerful players from all races join as one we will not give up so easily.
